Mineral Insulated Heating Cables (MIHC) are the most durable type of heating cable. Due to the lack of organic components MIHCs are renowned for their long life. Constructed from copper or cupro-nickel, these cables are capable of high watt output. These cables are typically used in pipelines. MIHCs are also used in new applications such as the extraction of tight oil.
